Ian has had the privilege of working in the Advertising, Media and Digital industry for 20+ years in a broad range of local and International roles across EMEA, including as Agency CEO. More recently, Ian was responsible for Facebook and Instagram’s agency partnerships across MENA. Today Ian is a member of the IAB Board which aims to develop and grow the digital marketing industry across MENA.
Michel Malkoun is Chief Operating Officer at DMS – the digital media arm of the Choueiri Group. No stranger to the media scene, Michel has amassed a notable career, encompassing some of the most prominent regional media groups.
He joined Choueiri Group in 2005, five years prior to his current engagement, which he took on in 2010.
Prior to this, Michel spent a decade with the region’s top broadcasters (MBC Group).
With a solid understanding of integrated media solutions across print, radio, TV and online, Michel’s role is centered on the promotion of next generation digital advertising solutions.
Extending the MENA region’s largest hub of premium digital publishers to advertisers and brands, Michel’s commitment to harnessing greater innovation and effectiveness is aimed at transforming DMS into a major player on the digital media scene.
Accomplished and highly analytical professional with substantial experience in managing agency operation, including account management, business development, sales, marketing, portfolio management, and media relations. Proven success in planning and executing robust commercial/cultural initiatives to deliver exceptional growth in agency business. Expert at building professional relationships leveraging interpersonal communication skills. Serve as key member on the IAB board in MENA.
Yasser is the Head of Media Agencies at Facebook for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) managing the operational and commercial growth of Facebook and its expanding portfolio of apps, services and platforms (Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, Oculus, Workplace, etc.). He supports agencies, clients, and universities in scaling education via Facebook blueprint and agency workshops. Uncover relevant local insights about media industry and agency landscape utilising market knowledge and understanding of MENA region and media agency business models.
Yasser was formerly a regional Business director at Mediacom MENA managing the business of key multinational and local clients like Nestlé, Qatar National bank and Etihad airways. Associate Media Director at Starcom managing a diversified portfolio of clients like OSN, Samsung, Nakheel and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank. Sales manager at Rotana Media Services in charge of selling advertising space on seven leading TV channels in the MENA region.
In her role as Starcom CEO, Racha is responsible for driving performance marketing solutions that accelerate growth for our partners in an increasingly complex ecosystem. Passionate about building brands, Racha strongly believes in the power and role data plays in transforming businesses, driving brand relevance & inspiring creativity.
Throughout her career Racha has worked closely with industry bodies to enhance & set measurement guidelines and principles. She is currently a board member at IAB MENA, and was a technical consultant with JIC for audience measurement in the region.
Previously to leading Starcom, Racha was overseeing the Data Science Practice at Publicis Media, working on building capabilities & products that puts data, analytics & tech at the heart of driving growth for client’s business. Her 15 yrs of experience in media spans various sectors including travel, telecommunication, luxury goods, automotive and FMCGs, and comprises a plethora of collaborations with the industry’s key players to innovate & adopt tech led solutions.
Rayan Karaky is currently Leading the Partnerships, Product and platform teams at Google – MENA, He was recruited to help Google better understand and navigate the agency world in MENA and revolutionize the Google-Agency working model, from relationships to commercial to joint business planning.
Rayan started his career in 2001 in Media Planning and buying at Starcom MediaVest Group, the largest media agency in MENA, helping clients navigate traditional media that was dominant at the time, soon enough Karaky spearheaded Starcom MediaVest Group’s success, launching an array of cutting-edge initiatives including VivaKi Nerve Center and StarcomIP in 2006. During a stint working with the organization’s global digital leadership in Chicago from June to October 2007, Karaky amassed the essential knowledge and business tools to build the group’s MENA digital teams. Rayan went on to become the Chief Digital Officer of Mena and Emerging Markets at Starcom MediaVest Group growing the digital talent from 3 to over 90 employees in six years in MENA alone, catapulting the digital division from a #6 ranking to #1 in the region. He drove the advancement of digital growth, competency, integration and innovation within the SMG Global Network and specifically across SMG’s Emerging Markets. When he is not working in digital, Rayan is also an avid standup comedian performing in different locations across the UAE.
Ayman Haydar started as a software engineer, then moved to developing mobile VAS strategies. In 2003, he started his career in media and advertising. Ayman served as the Managing Director of Mediaquest, one of the region’s most influential media company.
Being in the industry for 14 years, Ayman has vast experience in publishing, content, and digital marketing. Some of his professional achievements include establishing and developing international offices in Dubai, Beirut, Riyadh, Algiers and Tunis. He has also contributed in developing the company’s Media Representation, Events Management and Online Division.
Currently, Ayman is the CEO of MenaMarketPlace, the leading programmatic advertising company in the MENA region.
Elda is CEO of PHD MENA, leading the network across the GCC, Levant and North African markets. She joined the Omnicom Media Group in 2006 as Director of Planning for OMD and in 2008 moved to run PHD in the region. In 2016 she was named the CEO of PHD MENA, the same year the company was named “MENA Media Network of the Year” by Campaign Middle East. Elda shakes up traditions, approaches strategies innovatively and remains ahead of the industry. Under her leadership, the company has grown six-fold and has become a key player in the region. Recent highlights include the expansion into new middle eastern markets, being named ‘Most Effective Media Office 2017’ and third best employer in the UAE by the Great Place to Work Institute. In addition, Elda plays an active and integral role in the greater media community and network, as Vice Chairman of ABG and Board Member of IAB GCC, the IAA, and the Marketing Society Steering Committee. Outside of championing a leading media agency, Elda spends most of her time with her two boys.
Dan has been in digital marketing for nearly 15 years. He started his digital career in search engine optimization (SEO) and paid search advertising and later added other disciplines such as mobile advertising, paid social, affiliate marketing and display advertising. Dan has also extensive experience in analytics, usability, conversion optimization and accessibility testing.
Before joining GroupM MENA in January 2018 as Group Head of Data and Technology, Dan worked at Mediacom MENA as Regional Head of Digital, Performance Director at Wavemaker London where he headed Johnson & Johnson’s performance team for UK, IR and Northern Europe. Prior to Wavemaker he worked at Threepipe Digital Marketing and PR Agency as Associate Director of Digital.
Dan has a Masters Degree in Marketing from London Metropolitan University, BA Honours Degree in Media and Business from Birkbeck, University of London and Foundation Degree in Media and Business Applications also from Birkbeck, University of London.
As the CEO of Carat MENA, Ramzy harnesses his experience in management and media to lead the agency’s growth in the market. He is responsible for supporting clients as they put consumers at the heart of their businesses in an interconnected world and delivering on Carat’s vision of ‘Redefining Media’.
Prior to joining Carat, Ramzy held prominent positions in leading media powerhouses in the region, most recently as Regional Managing Director at Initiative, equipping him with over 20 years of experience in the field.
His career has seen him work with a portfolio of international clients that include Philip Morris, P&G, General Motors, Johnson & Johnson, Nokia, Emirates and Americana Group (KFC, Hardees), along with large local clients such as Etisalat in the UAE and Mobily in KSA.
Shadi is a seasoned chief executive officer, with over 2 decades of experience at the helm of leading organizations in the marketing services sector. He is a transformational leader with demonstrated strength in championing organizational redesign to promote long- term growth.
He is currently serving as the CEO of MENAT, MEDIABRANDS – IPG’s media holding company. In this role, he is spearheading the group’s digital transformation journey and the evolution of its offering to lead in the age of data analytics and technology.
Before joining MEDIABRANDS, Shadi served as a Board member for the Montreal-based analytics startup SEMEON. As chair of the board’s strategic planning committee, he led several rounds of fund-raising activities, co-authored pitch decks, funding term sheets and setting-up governance protocols. At Centennial college, he led the college’s successful bid with the ministry of education to launch Ontario’s first-ever graduate certificate program focused on digital marketing, transformation and the evolution of programmatic trading.
His approach to leadership is one that embraces collaboration and openness. His practice is founded on the basis of meritocracy, institutionalizing equity and leading with integrity and authenticity.
He considers himself a lifelong learner, committed to the pursuit of knowledge to stay relevant. His passion for giving back prompted his teaching assignment at Ontario’s Centennial college, while volunteering on the board of two charities focused on enhancing Youth mental health and providing technology access to disenfranchised communities.
With over 10 years in the entertainment industry, Elie has been working with publishers and platforms across Europe and MENA to create and expand creative monetisation solutions at scale. He previously worked with Snapchat publishers across EMEA helping them develop cross platform sales strategies while also being the lead on the private market place rollout. Elie is currently Anghami’s VP across GCC, managing the company’s business across the region while also leading its’ monetisation efforts.
Jason Monteiro is Director of Shahid’s AVOD (free tier) business. Shahid is MBC Group’s flagship digital streaming service with the aim of becoming MENA’s undisputed #1 Premium Video On-Demand service. As the Director of Shahid’s AVOD business, Jason is accountable for maximizing Shahid’s digital advertising revenue by ensuring that Shahid has the widest digital audience reach in MENA with deep engagement which in turn offer brands the opportunity to interact and advertise in an exciting yet targeted and effective manner.
Jason has 20 years working experience in high growth technology organizations in telecommunications and media largely in commercial management roles. The organizations that Jason has worked for cover blue chip companies such as Vodafone, but also Internet start-ups such as iflix. This is Jason’s second stint in the GCC having being one of the Vodafone founding team members that started Vodafone in Qatar between 2008 and 2015.
Humbled to have worked in a fascinating, ever growing, and digitally ready region for the past 15 years, and Mohamad has spent his entire career till date in digital and tech across the MENA Region.
Coming from an agency background, Mohamad played a crucial part in developing digital platforms and practices including Search, Video, Mobile, Programmatic and data solutions for various agency groups, the latest being MCN/IPG which he served most of his career. During the various roles, he was commissioned to establish the digital practice across key markets including UAE, KSA and Egypt.
With the rise of e-commerce in the region and continuous digital adoption, there was no better time for him to join the leading technology and e-commerce company in the world –Amazon. Today and in the capacity of Head of Agency Development, Mohamad is responsible for leading on agency partnerships and programmatic for Amazon Advertising across MENA.
Jake Thomas joined Snapchat in Feb 2017, as Head of Agency Development, for the Middle East and North Africa. Based in Dubai, he is responsible for scaling Snapchat’s relationships with holding group agencies and leading pan regional advertisers. Previous to Snapchat, Jake spent over 5yrs with LinkedIn. Moving to Dubai in 2012, to establish and build LinkedIn’s Marketing Solutions business across MENA. He began his media career, at leading UK media company, The Telegraph Media Group. Jake is passionate about the growth of digital in MENA and helping brands tap into MENA’s young, diverse and mobile first audience.
Benjamin Ampen (@bampen) is Twitter’s Managing Director for Middle East & North Africa and is responsible for growing the business across the region. Since joining Twitter in 2012, Ampen has successfully launched the company’s sales activities in France, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and Italy. In 2015, Ampen moved to the UAE as the MENA Head of Revenue leading the growth and revenue performance for the company in the region.
Prior to joining Twitter, Ampen worked at Google for four years, where he spent his last year as an Industry Manager as part of the business development team across the UK and EMEA region. Ampen has also previously worked at Universal McCann and Detecon Consulting. He holds three Master’s Degrees in Management from highly esteemed universities in London, Germany, and Paris.
